Holly McRae

Environmental Education Coordinator
B.S., Colorado State University
Holly McRae is responsible for coordinating the environmental education program.
Prior to her work at the West Eugene Wetlands, Holly served as a naturalist and an environmental educator in Yellowstone National Park. She has also served as an environmental educator in Everglades National Park, and Hardware Ranch Elk Refuge. Holly holds a bachelor of science degree from Colorado State University, in natural resource management. In her “other life,” Holly is enjoying being a new mom, hiking with her family and dog, playing the accordion, and eating sushi.

Liz Myers

Environmental Education Specialist and Volunteer Coordinator
B.A., The College of Wooster
Liz Myers is responsible for scheduling education programs and volunteer recruitment. In addition, Liz participates as an educator for the West Eugene Wetlands education program both in the classroom and at the wetlands.
Before joining the staff Liz volunteered with WREN while working for the City of Eugene Recreation Department. Prior to living in Eugene, Liz worked at an environmental education center in Maryland and spent two years working in Canyonlands National Park as an interpreter. Liz holds a bachelor of arts degree from the College of Wooster in Geology. In addition to enjoying outdoor activities, Liz plays Irish flute and tin whistle. She is also a bagpiper and highland dancer with a local band, the Caledonians.
Jules Abbott

Environmental Education Assistant
B.S., Michigan State University
Jules is responsible for tasks such as leading education programs and grant writing, just to name a few.
Prior to joining our staff Jules volunteered for WREN leading educational programs and helping around the office. She also continues to work part-time with Oregon Research Institute on projects that study how communities can help to promote healthy and successful children. Jules holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University, Department of Botany and Plant Pathology. When not working, she can be found hiking, mushroom hunting, spending time with her cherished friends and loved ones, and playing with her Greenhill graduate, Emma. Jules is also a member of the infamous local musical group WRENaissance.
Windy Hovey

Resource Development Specialist
B.A. University of Idaho
Windy handles public outreach through the Wetland Word Newsletter and the WREN Store, and is the contact for any questions or comments on the WREN or West Eugene Wetlands Education Center website. She is the Education Center Capital Campaign Manager and also contributes to fundraising and public relations activities.
Windy moved from Idaho to Eugene in May 2004 and began volunteering with WREN in November 2004. Prior to her work for WREN, she worked as a public relations intern for the Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute in Moscow, Idaho, and a reporter/writer for the UI Argonaut newspaper and Idaho Press-Tribune. She earned her bachelors in journalism/mass communication from UI and is now a canditate for a master's degree in Communication and Society and Not-for-profit management certificate from the University of Oregon.

West Eugene Wetlands Project Manager
Patricia K. Johnston is the West Eugene Wetlands Project Manager on behalf of the Bureau of Land Management. Since 1999 she has worked as Project Manager, with her central focus on developing an education program and center. She has brought together community leaders and members to support a community vision around ecology studies and environmental education. Her responsibilities have also included oversight of the wetland restoration project and coordination with other WEW partners on overall restoration activities to manage the landscape without regard to political or ownership boundaries.
